A pastel sketch of the essence or a distillation of the pattern and colors of a Gaboon Adder/Gaboon Viper, Bitis gabonica, expressed as a blue print or abstract design. The colors and pattern vary between individual snakes, and a search of images on the internet will show many examples of this beautiful snake. Perhaps the pattern of this snake was the original inspiration for Ndebele Art, or partly inspired it.
