Description
Samson leans against a pillar while praying fervently to God for help. Samson then martyrs himself by pushing the pillars apart, bringing the roof down, killing his enemies and himself. Drawing based on a Roman copy of an Ancient Greek statue, the "Farnese Hercules". From the book of Judges, chapter 16:28, in the Old Testament: "Then Samson called to the LORD, saying "O LORD GOD, remember me, I pray! Strengthen me, I pray, just this once, O God, that I may with one blow take vengeance on the Philistines for my two eyes!""
